Billing and time tracking built for consultancies
See your real margin before the engagement is over
On T&M work, margin should be straightforward — but most tools only show one side of the equation. On milestone billing, it's worse: you're paying consultants by the day against a fixed client price, and you don't know if you're ahead or behind until the work is done. Hubbado puts cost and charge rates on every assignment so margin is visible in real time, regardless of how you bill.

The utilisation blind spot
Your consultants are on client engagements, but you can't see real-time utilisation without pulling reports from multiple systems. By the time you spot underutilisation, you've already absorbed the cost. You need a system that shows you who's working, on what, and at what rate — right now, not last month.
Billing complexity across engagement types
Some clients are T&M. Some are fixed price. Some are a mix. Your billing system handles one of these well and botches the rest. You end up with manual workarounds — spreadsheets tracking milestone progress alongside timesheets, separate invoice templates for different contract types, and finance chasing project managers for billing data every month.
Internal costs vs client charges
You need both views: what the engagement costs you (consultant salary or day rate) and what you're billing the client. Most timesheet systems give you one or the other. Getting both means either maintaining parallel rate cards or reconciling data between systems after the fact.
Costs and charges side by side
Every assignment carries both the cost rate (what the consultant costs you) and the charge rate (what you bill the client). When time is logged, both figures calculate immediately — margin is visible on every timesheet, not buried in a month-end report. Whether your people are salaried staff charged out at a day rate or contractors with their own cost basis, the same view works.
T&M, milestones, or both
Some clients are time and materials. Some are milestone-based. Some are a mix — you bill the client on milestones but pay the supplier on T&M. Hubbado handles each side with its own assignment and links them together, so timesheets drive the cost side while invoicing follows the client's billing model. You see actual consultant cost against billed milestones without reconciling between separate systems.
Milestone approval built in
Most tools have approval workflows for timesheets but nothing for milestones — so sign-off happens over email, in spreadsheets, or not at all. In Hubbado, milestones follow the same pattern: someone marks a milestone as complete, a reviewer approves it, and the invoice generates. One approval workflow for both billing models, with a clear audit trail.

Built in 2014 inside a consultancy and recruitment agency that spent years managing assignments, billing, and utilisation - and got tired of the tools available. The dual-rate view, mixed billing support, and assignment-level margin tracking exist because we needed them ourselves and couldn't find them in one system.
I primarily use the Hubbado portal to enter my time sheet information. I find it easy to navigate around the portal. I like the fact that I receive automated emails from Hubbado confirming that my invoices have been paid.
The Hubbado platform is by far the most accessible, intuitive and well designed UI I've used for this kind of work management, with good visibility of my assignments, timesheets and invoices.
Hubbado's innovative platform deserves special mention. It has been remarkably user-friendly and intuitive, simplifying processes and communication throughout the recruitment phase and beyond.
